Overview
Mitchel Denham is a Member of McBrayer PLLC in the firm's Louisville office. He represents a broad array of clients in regulatory matters, general civil litigation, and government enforcement actions with a focus on healthcare law, government regulations, constitutional law, business litigation, and employment law.
Previously, Mitchel served as the Assistant Deputy Attorney General in the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, where he worked closely with the Attorney General and supervised every division of the office. While there, he also served as the Executive Director of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, the acting Director of the Office of Special Prosecutions, and the Acting Director of the Office of Victim’s Advocacy. Mitchel helped the Commonwealth obtain several multi-million-dollar settlements in litigation involving pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers, and he led litigation challenging the constitutionality of executive orders and legislation. As an Assistant Attorney General and an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Mitchel also prosecuted officials for public corruption, organized crime syndications, gangs, and other felony crimes.
In private practice, Mitchel represents clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small business owners. He also represents political campaigns and government entities. Mitchel has appeared before numerous state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court and the Kentucky Supreme Court. Mitchel draws on his broad experience to put his clients in the best position to succeed. Whether it is providing strategic advice, appearing before an administrative board, or arguing before the Kentucky Supreme Court, Mitchel ensures his client’s rights are well represented. Mitchel has handled numerous high-profile cases for his clients.
Mitchel is actively engaged in his community. He was appointed by Governor Andy Beshear to the Board of Directors for the Louisville Regional Airport Authority and serves as the Vice-Chair of the Kentucky Personnel Board. Additionally, he was appointed by Mayor Craig Greenberg to the Louisville Economic Development Alliance. Mitchel is the Treasurer of the Norton Children’s Hospital Foundation and is a 2019 alumnus of the Leadership Kentucky program, as well as a 2024 alumnus of the Leadership Louisville’s Bingham Fellows program. In 2012, he was recognized as part of Louisville Business First's 40 Under Forty class. Furthermore, he coaches his daughter’s basketball team.
Mitchel grew up in Maysville, Kentucky, and is a proud alumnus of Mason County High School, Centre College, and the University of Kentucky College of Law. Mitchel lives in Louisville with his wife and three children.
