Summer Associate Program
WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR 2025 SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM.
McBrayer offers its summer associates a unique and rewarding experience. Beginning in May and throughout the 10-14 weeks of the program, our summer associates are encouraged to work with attorneys in every practice area from insurance defense to planning and zoning to litigation to health care to corporate law. Within all areas of our diverse legal practice, you might conduct research, draft documents, and attend hearings, depositions, oral arguments in appellate courts and trials. We strive to offer you the most in-depth exposure to the practice of law. Our expectation is that our summer associates will be self-motivated and self-starters to supplement their education and further develop their potential for outstanding legal careers.
McBrayer has received exceptional reviews from former summer associates, and we credit it to the culture of our firm. During the summer program, our summer associates will experience firsthand our firm's cohesiveness and our strong team environment. McBrayer clients have come to anticipate the high level of respect we have for our teammates and the professional yet collegial atmosphere of the firm. We seek individuals with the same goals and values of our law firm and those willing to make a meaningful contribution to the firm, our clients and the community.
We are looking for current second-year law students who:
- Demonstrate strong initiative and drive
- Work effectively in teams
- Are actively involved in their community
- Manage time wisely to meet deadlines
- Develop creative solutions to client problems
- Have excellent written and oral skills
- Pay attention to detail
- Maintain a strong GPA
As a summer associate at McBrayer, you will be treated as a professional in training and a member of the team. We provide a computer, Internet access, a McBrayer email address, and reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, paid covered parking and competitive compensation.
Summer associates will receive ongoing feedback from attorneys, which serves as a resource for guidance on future work assignments. We encourage you to ask for additional feedback from attorneys after completing every assignment. Summer associates also will be assigned mentors - members or associates of our firm to help them achieve the best experience and to answer any questions.
Our summer program is not all work. Social events with lawyers and the rest of the staff take place on a frequent basis.
We do not guarantee employment with the firm upon completion of the program; however, many of our new attorney hires have been former summer associates.
