McBrayer Member Mitchel Denham has been re-appointed by Governor Andy Beshear for a second four-year term with the Louisville Regional Airport Authority (LRAA). The LRAA is responsible for overseeing two major airports in Louisville: Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) and Bowman Field (LOU). These airports collectively offer nonstop service to more than 35 destinations through eight commercial airlines. Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is recognized as a key player in the global cargo landscape, ranking as the third busiest cargo airport in North America and the sixth busiest in the world, notably serving as the location of UPS Worldport.
In 2023, Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport achieved record-breaking passenger traffic, handling over 2.3 million passengers. Furthermore, it stands as the fastest-growing airport in the nation, having expanded its capacity by over 25%. Over the past four years, the airport has successfully executed projects totaling $126 million. Members of the LRAA also contribute to the Louisville Renaissance Zone Corporation (LRZC), an organization dedicated to fostering economic development in the Renaissance South Business Park. This business park spans 680 acres and accommodates 13 businesses within 6.7 million square feet of facilities, employing a workforce of 3,200 individuals.
