Overview
Kara N. Legg, a West Virginia native who found her calling in Lexington, Kentucky, is an emerging regulatory attorney who assists her clients in navigating the regulations relevant to their industry. She is a new addition to McBrayer's Economic Development practice group, focused on structuring tax incentives for developers and municipalities across the Commonwealth. In this role, she helps clients in the formation of industrial development authorities and securing funding through Kentucky's numerous programs aimed at business creation and expansion. While her primary focus is economic development, Kara is dedicated to gaining proficiency in additional practice areas she believes are integral to her success as a regulatory attorney, including administrative law, nonprofit institutions and associations, and healthcare law.
Kara understands that her clients seeking tax incentives and funding for economic development projects require an attorney who can navigate local, state, and federal regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance. She values community engagement and is eager to build relationships with local and state stakeholders to ensure an efficient and successful development process. She has developed and honed her economic practice skills by clerking at McBrayer during the summer before and through her final year in law school.
Kara has always been passionate about the inner workings of government and how legislative and administrative decisions impact economic investments and growth. Having a history in politics, she appreciates her work because it allows her to nurture that interest while providing legal work with real solutions and opportunities to grow in Kentucky. Her practice focuses on strengthening Kentucky's economic vitality, and she is passionate about using her legal research skills to uncover new financial incentives for clients.
In her spare time, Kara enjoys spending time outdoors, playing basketball, painting, drawing, and sculpting. As a supporter of civic involvement and an avid sports fan, she enjoys attending community events and cheering on the University of Kentucky, blending her passions for both into her connection with the community.
