McBrayer Louisville Member Jack Wheat was featured in the recent YouTube documentary Theft and the Crazy History of the Cabbage Patch Kids. Watch the documentary here.
As a law student and young lawyer in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mr. Wheat provided legal assistance and representation to Martha Nelson Thomas, the Kentucky artist who created the soft sculpture "Doll Babies" that preceded Cabbage Patch Kids, in an intellectual property suit regarding the provenance of the popular toys.
In 2022, Mr. Wheat was interviewed and featured in a Tribeca Film Festival documentary, Billion Dollar Babies: The True Story of the Cabbage Patch Kids. You can find this film here.
