On March 17th, Member Stephen Amato spoke at the 6th Annual James B. Beam Institute Industry Conference on What’s New in Whiskey Law: Update on Legislative and Regulatory Changes 2024. The legislative and regulatory landscape surrounding the whiskey industry evolves each year, posing challenges in keeping up with the shifting environment. McBrayer Member Stephen Amato guided participants through an update on the most significant legislative, regulatory, and legal changes and challenges at both the state and federal levels. He provided the latest information on pending legislation in the Kentucky statehouse during the 2025 General Assembly, offering producers and industry stakeholders a preview of what to expect in the coming year. Some of this legislation includes SB 202, which defines cannabis-infused beverages and tasks Kentucky's Alcohol Beverage Control Department with regulating those products, and HB 775, which establishes a taxation system for beverages and distributor licenses.
